Speak up before we no longer have a voice in how we vape!
If you’ve switched from smoking to vaping, YOU know how vaping has changed your life – maybe even the lives of friends and family – for the better. As vapers, we know that it is NOT smoking. We know that there is NO combustion and therefore none of the carcinogens associated with taking smoke into your lungs, and no secondhand smoke concerns for those around you. We feel better than when we smoked. We smell better and we are saving money, too. Is it safer than doing nothing? Absolutely not. But vaping has been proven to be at least 95% safer than smoking.
Unfortunately, vaping has a generally negative popular perception, mainly due to ignorance or even scare tactics from a biased media and a health community largely uneducated on vaping. Essentially, it’s been vilified by those whose job it is to know better. The general public sees the sensationalist news stories on TV, the memes on social media and the junk “science” articles and emails that are mindlessly forwarded ad nauseam and a lot of them take them as the gospel truth. If you’ve paid any kind of attention, you know there is usually very little substance to these reports. It can be endlessly frustrating.
So what can we do? Well, there there are a number of things:
Be informed – this industry is constantly changing – new mods, new batteries, new materials. Something that may have been true two years ago may have evolved or even changed completely. Make sure you are educated – you can then pass that knowledge on to others. Stay on top of current events – new studies, findings and laws being proposed and adopted.
Be polite – just because you are exhaling vapor instead of smoke, it doesn’t mean it’s OK to blow a massive cloud in someones face. Be aware of local regulations and restrictions. Right or wrong, they are the law. Be a good neighbor. Let common courtesy be your guide.
Be vocal – If you witness the spreading of false info on vaping, speak up! Set ’em straight.
Ignorance creates fear. “Fear is the path to the dark side…fear leads to anger…anger leads to hate…hate leads to suffering.” Fight the ignorance and fear. If we stay silent, our way of life could be threatened. Educate your friends and family on what vaping is, how it has helped you and so many others. Learn and pass on the science behind the facts.
Be Involved – HERE are 5 things you can do right now to help ensure that vaping continues to be available and that it be categorized and regulated CORRECTLY.
If we leave it to the “officials”, there is no telling what will happen. If misinformation, ignorance and flat-out lies are allowed to go unchecked, it is entirely possible that we could lose the option to vape at all.
